Antony Blinken meets President Xi Jinping in Beijing

Relations between America and China have deteriorated again. Tension has again increased significantly in the relations between the two countries. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Friday met with Chinese President Xi Jinping and other senior Chinese officials to address the dispute on various bilateral, regional and global issues. He also warned about the dangers of misunderstanding and miscalculations. Blinken met President Xi Jinping after talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Public Security Minister Wang Xiaohong.

Despite growing differences between the two countries, the number of talks has increased in recent months. Blinken and Wang underlined the importance of keeping lines of communication open, but they also regretted that differences are becoming more serious and threatening global security. Earlier this week, serious differences between the two countries came to light when US President Joe Biden signed the Foreign Aid Bill which contains several provisions that China considers against itself.

Tension from Taiwan to South China Sea and Russia

The comments from the leaders of the two countries indicate a long list of differences that include Taiwan and the South China Sea, trade and human rights, China’s support for Russia and the production and export of ‘synthetic opioid precursors’. “Overall, China-US relations have begun to stabilize,” Wang told Blinken at the beginning of the nearly five-and-a-half-hour conversation. But at the same time, negative factors are still increasing in the relationship due to which the relationship is facing all kinds of disruptions.
